Cantores Minores – Warsaw Men’s Choir

To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the Warsaw Archdiocesan Cathedral Men and Boys Choir, better known as Cantores Minores, have returned to the United States for the fifth time, under the direction of their founder and present conductor Joseph A. Herter, for a nationwide concert tour.

The choir will be at St. Charles Borromeo on Sunday, August 22 at the 7:00 pm Mass which will be followed by a concert. During the Mass they will sing the Kyrie (from Gregorian Mass IV); Gloria (from Messe breve no. 7 – Charles Gounod); Credo (from Missa ‘Adeste Fideles’ – Vittorio Giannini); Santus (from Messe a trios voix – Cesar Franck); and Agnus dei (from Missa di Gloria – Giacomo Puccini). All parishioners and friends are welcome to attend the Mass and the concert presentation, so please join us!

The choirs’ performances are free of charge; however, free will donations are welcome.

Parish Buildings Update

Dear St. Charles Borromeo Parishioners and Friends,

As you are all aware, the parish is in the process of working to lease the school building.  A number of parties expressed interest in the building and the parish, working with the Diocesan Real Estate Office, is in final negotiations with a potential tenant.

Every potential lessee that expressed interest in the school also required the rectory to be included as part of the lease agreement.  In order to move forward with any potential tenant, it became clear that the parish would have to include the rectory as part of any agreement if we were to successfully lease the school building.

Therefore the Sisters have graciously agreed to relocate to other convents in Brooklyn.  This will enable the parish to convert the convent into our rectory, parish office, and parish meeting space once we have finalized the leasing agreement negotiations.

We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to Sister Eileen McGuire, Sister Ann Franklin, Sister Catherine Cunningham, and Sister Helen Cahill from the entire parish and wish them well in their new homes.  They have generously provided the school and the parish with many years of dedicated service and they will be missed.

The parish will hold a Mass of Thanksgiving on Sunday, October 10 at 10:30 a.m. to honor and thank all the Sisters of St Joseph who have been part of our parish family.  We will also hold a reception for the Sisters after the Mass and hope that everyone will be able to attend both the Mass and the reception to thank the sisters.

Your brothers and sisters in Christ,

The Parish Trustees, Finance Committee, and Pastoral Council
